Team Building Minus The Cringe Factor

Let’s face it, attempting to catch Bob-from-Marketing as he falls in to your arms is excruciatingly awkward and receiving a projectile paintball in the gut won’t actually help you bond with the colleague who fired it. But contrary to popular belief a day out of the office can actually improve productivity.

The right team building experience can stimulate better communication, boost morale and creativity, develop strategic thinking and can be critical to the success of a business.

To foster a sense of community without the cringe factor try one of the following:

On the Water

SE_landseaair5_2 New Forest Teambuilding

Fly across the Solent at high speed in close formation on identical Ribs with Solent Events.  Each team member will take the lead in a variety of tasks as your race from port to port armed with the latest multimedia tablet treasure hunt featuring video, images, music and a live scoreboard.  You can also complete your adventure on land – off-roading in the stunning New Forest National Park – or in the air – with a helicopter tour of the Isle of Wight’s most famous landmarks including the Needles, Hurst Castle, Alum Bay and Yarmouth.

For a more relaxed activity on water charter a yacht in Portsmouth, the home of British sailing and Ben Ainslie’s America’s Cup Challenge team.   Successful sailing demands co-operation and good communication and the reward will be spectacular views as you cruise past Portchester Castle, the Spinnaker Tower and Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.

Play with a Legend

If the team is filled with footie fans, realise their childhood dreams with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of playing football and having a beer with their childhood heroes.   In Southampton you’ll be playing alongside legends Matt Le Tissier, and Chris Perry before sharing a pint and stories of their glory days with them.

The Chukka Challenge

Coworth Park Chukka Challenge

Head to the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead where the team can try their hand at Polo, the ‘game of Kings’.  Coworth Park, Ascot is UK’s only hotel with its own polo fields, managed by the internationally-renowned, Guards Polo Club.  Spend a morning discovering the tactics and essential teamwork required by a successful polo player and finish the day with a range of hilarious country pursuits including Duck Herding and the Human Football Table.

Seaside Seafood Challenge

With more sunshine hours than elsewhere in the UK, the dramatic Sussex coast provides the ideal environment for a beach based team building challenge.    At Hasting’s Classroom on the Coast – the world’s first cookery school on the beach – your group is divided in to individual cooking teams who each need to plan, forage for and purchase their ingredients before cooking their own adaptation of a demonstrated dish.  The teams then celebrate their achievements by dining together on their (hopefully) tasty creations.

Chocolate Chuckles

For a stress-busting, endorphin fuelled event just add chocolate.  The Brighton based Laughter Gym offers a Chocolate Chuckles package led by laughter leaders and chocolatiers. The session is bursting with indulgence, fun and creativity and promises to have you skipping back to your desk.
